Euro Pool System will open its largest UK service centre later this year in Bardon Hill, Coalville, Leicestershire, in order to support the fast and significant growth in the United Kingdom. This new location will be the most advanced and most sustainable facility in EPS’s UK network.
The new service centre has been constructed in close collaboration with Harworth Group, one of the UK’s leading land and property regeneration companies. Their Bardon Hill logistics development was completed in late 2022 and was built to BREEAM Excellent standard, EPC rating A+ and achieving NZC in construction accreditation.
The site’s excellent sustainability credentials were important in the choice for Bardon Hill, as Dirk Vercammen, Regional Director at Euro Pool System, explains: “Euro Pool System has been committed to sustainability since its inception. We are constantly looking for new and innovative solutions to reduce our carbon footprint. The new service centre is a good example: we will be able to service our clients more efficiently and sustainably and with greater capacity. Our new site will open with groundbreaking water treatment facilities which lead the industry in making hygienic returnable circular packaging items more sustainable and even more of a positive use case in an increasingly environmentally conscious market.”
Sustainability credentials
The Bardon Hill service centre has a number of important sustainability features:
- PV (solar power) system on the roof
- BREEAM Excellent Standard
- EPC rating A+
- Low washing temperature to save on energy consumption
- Charging sites for electric vehicles
- Water treatment plant with high recovery rates for wastewater to be installed later
The new EPS service centre includes green spaces within the estate that not only serve as a protected habitat for various species of wildlife, but also provide a natural breakout space for employees on-site. Additionally, it is conveniently located near J22 of the M1 and 6 miles from J13 of the A42 providing prime transportation links to major UK road lanes.
